Mets free agents:
Edgardo Alfonzo - Would like to keep in the organization just because he's one of my faves. Wouldn't be shocked to see him retire and take a job with the Mets in some fashion.
Chad Bradford - I really like this guy and hope to see him back.
Jacob Cruz - Who cares
Mike DiFelice - Ditto
Cliff Floyd - I like Cliff, I really do. But unless he's willing to take a VERY incentive-laden deal, there's just no way you can justify bringing him back.
Tom Glavine - I certainly don't pay him the $14M team option, and can't see him taking a $7M player option to stay here. I'd pay that $7M for him, but I wouldn't go much beyond that. Mets are in a bind though with Pedro out. Glavine money could go toward Zito, which I'd be fine with.
Orlando Hernandez - Omar will try and bring him back if he's reasonable.
Roberto Hernandez - Gone. If he doesn't retire he'll pitch somewhere else. Mets don't need him.
Ricky Ledee - Gone
Jose Lima - Gone
Eli Marrero - Gone
Guillermo Mota - Willie loves this guy. My guess is he's back, though I don't know if they'll spend money to keep him and Bradford. I'd keep Bradford if a decision needs to be made there. A lot depends on what happens with Heilman (who I'm inclined to think will go in a trade.) Remember, Duaner Sanchez comes back as well. How many righty relievers do you need?
Darren Oliver - Great job this year. Randolph loves him. I think he'll be given every chance to come back.
Kelly Stinnett - gone
Steve Trachsel - Please, for the love of God, gone. Gutless friggin' wonder.
Michael Tucker - Nice effort while he was here, but he won't be back.
Jose Valentin - Will return on the bench, unless he thinks he showed enough to start elsewhere. If he does, good luck, but he will not go into '07 as the Mets 2B. Not a chance.
Chris Woodward - I'm betting he's gone.
