Dillon wins first title
June 3, 1911
Jack Dillon (1/CH) (21-0) scored a UD15 over George Byers (4/4) (17-9-1) to win the vacant WBC LH title.
His 21st win also moves into a 3 way tie for 3rd longest winning streak. He is tied with Young Peter Jackson and Joe Jeannette. Jeannette's 21 straight also came at the beginning of his career. He now trails only Tommy Ryan (34) and Jack Johnson (33).
This bout was close for the first 8 rounds, then Byers seemed to run out of gas abit. Dillon controlled the final 7 rounds to run away with the victory.
I had it 145-141. Niklas Peternek (RE) had it a little closer at 144-142. The official judges had it 145-140/146-140/145-140.
