Johnson beats Jackson again
June 2, 1911
Jack Johnson (2/CH) (41-3) scored a TKO8 after pummeling Peter Jackson (1/1) (36-7-2) to win the new WBO HW title. The WBO is the 4th and final world title and the HW division is the first to crown the champ.
Johnson has now won 4 in a row over Jackson since Peter won a UD10 way back in May of 1900. This is the third title Johnson has won.
Jackson came out fast winning the first three rounds. Johnson, a notoriously slow starter, started to come alive in the 4th catching Jackson with power shots.
In the 7th, Johnson opened a cut over the right eye of Jackson. The landed shot after shot until the bell ended. Both of Jackson's eyes were swelling. In the 8th Johnson opened a cut over the left eye of Jackson. He reopened the cut over the right eye and that was it. Jackson was a swollen and bloody mess.
First time a fight between the two didn't go the distance.
I had it 67-66 Jackson at the stoppage.
