The American Pastime - an alternate history league - (OOTP 6.5) Has Openings
Also posted in the OOTP 2006 Online League (accidentally, but now both bases are covered):
URL="http://legendsport.com/baseball/tap"]The American Pastime[/URL], an alternate history league incorporating Negro Leaguers into the fabric of MLB history is ready to move to the 1892 season and has several openings.
The available teams are:
New York Empires who feature a backstop named Connie Mack as well as star first sacker Roger Connor
Jersey City Skeeters, featuring Duke Farrell and Oyster Burns and star hurler John Clarkson
Milwaukee Braves with Deacon McGuire, Tommy McCarthy, (an aging) Cap Anson and 1891 MVP Hugh Duffy
Minneapolis Millers with Buck Ewing, John McGraw and Arlie Latham
New Orleans Crescents led by top hurler Amos Rusie
Right now there are only a handful of Negro Leaguers in the league, but this number will grow with each successive draft.
Check out our GM page to see some of the other members of the league and feel free to contact them for more info. I do not run a team in the league and am therefore able to be a completely unbiased and objective commissioner.
We are sticking with OOTP 6.5 for this league. It'll take a majority vote of the GMs to move the league into the new sim (the vote was to stay in 6.5 for now).
I am also building a Negro League database as we go - eventually the community will get a Lahman-style DB with all Negro Leaguers from 1890 thru integration. If you'd like to be among the first to play with these guys (ALL the Negro Leaguers, as listed in SABR's Negro Leagues Book, more than 4000 players total), this is the league to sign up with...
Thanks for checking us out.
