Hey HO! What do ya know? This is Bubba direct from Chicago.

I am doing just fine, and hope you two are as well.

We are doing fine, in second place. I am 2-3, but have been pitching well as of late.

The State of Arkansas sent me a letter, confirming my commision. Thanks Daddy, I am sure your influence as State Representative surely helped.

I spoke with the Colonel last night, my Battalion Commander. He doesn't seem too impressed that I am a ball player. He says the only good thing is that I should be fit.

I am to be a platoon leader, with 15 men assigned to me. This will be after my training, of course. I have not as of yet met the men, I will at the end of this month.

The club has been very understanding. It will be OK to miss a weekend a month, as they can move the pitching rotation around a little bit to deal with it. I should not miss any starts.

Daddy, I know the farm is feeling the pinch of this down turn. I sent some money down to Little Rock into our accounts, that should help some.

Ella Mae has told me that she has been offered a position at the State College in Little Rock, to teach English. It would mean us having to move away from El Dorado, so I don't know. What do you all think? Her pay would go from $1500 a year up to $3500 a year....and that would be right nice.

Daddy, would you, Charly, and Jeb be able to manage the farms if we went up to Little Rock? Let me know quick, if you would.
