Well...6.5 isn't as detailed...and the setup options aren't as plentiful....but it's easier to navigate, easier to get into, and easier to play and understand...probably because there isn't as much to do so thus its simpler (I don't mean in a negative bad way...its a good kind of simpler.

I'm playing both...I like them both....I've seen enough of 2006 to know the rewrite will be worth it IF they listen to their fans and the community for the next version. I suspect they will and OOTP 2007 and beyond will be better for it.

For me....I like having both...but it sounds like you have OOTP 2006. OOTP 6.5 requires you to have OOTP 6 installed (actually just the eLicense part) so if you went that way...you didn't already have OOTP 6 you would need to buy both OOTP 6 and 6.5 to get 6.5 to work.

I guess I'm torn with what to tell you but I'll put it this way. If you aren't frustrated with OOTP 2006 than you should not buy OOTP 6.5. If you are....than it might be a better experience for you.
