I voted yes, basically for the same reasons several of the others of you mentioned. McGriff's best years came just before the recent offensive explosion, so his career totals don't have the weight that some of the sluggers who are just a little younger have.
I remember thinking McGriff looked like one of the bigger, stronger guys in baseball in the late 80s. I think he's about 6'3", maybe 210, 215. Ten years later, the Crime Dawg looked the same size, but all these other guys were absolutely ripped.
