I use CorelDraw which is a vector-based program (the Adobe equivalent is Illustrator). The difference of CD from a program like Adobe Photoshop is that the latter is pixel-based whereas CD uses mathematics (i.e., vectors) to produce the image. The significance of this? With a vector-based graphic, you can enlarge and reduce the image and maintain the crisp, smooth edges whereas in a pixel-based program, you can get that blocky, pixelated appearance depending upon the resolution and the size change. However, don't be fooled by these differences as a program like Photoshop can produce stunning effects and in its own right, is a very powerful program. As you will see (or have seen), both programs are used, producing very good logos.

The logo below was created entirely from scratch (i.e., totally drawn ... no cutting and pasting) with CD. The capacity of CD to produce smooth curves is -- for me -- a most important factor in a drawing program.
