You may balk at giving up Zumaya, but Atlanta isn't going to give up Smoltz for nothing. And you can't dismiss him as being an aging player, if he was just an aging player you wouldn't want him. Smoltz has alot of value so you either step up with an offer of you wont get him.

I may have a longer view than most as I've been a fan since Billy took over as skipper in the early seventies. I also remember giving up a young pitcher for an established one (Doyle Alexander) back in 87. We wanted to 'win now' back then too. We got to the playoffs and ran into the Twinkies. Winning now doesn't excite me as much as it used to.
I think that young pitcher that we gave up had a pretty familiar name too.
