Today's venue and info:

The Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, formerly the Arena AufSchalke, is home of Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04.

This is the 12th finals tournament game (either European Championship or World Cup) held in Gelsenkirchen, and the first in a knockout stage, and here are the city stats:
There have been 10 wins, and one draw in games in the city (Argentina and West Germany drew 1-1 in their 1974 World Cup second group stage tie).

Of those ten wins, on nine occasions the losing team has been shutout - one thing to watch out for, as it seems the first goal may prove vital (the only team to lose and not be shutout are Mexico at this World Cup in their Group E match against Portugal, 1-2).

Other stats:
Code:
Biggest Wins: 1974 WC Group 2 - Yugoslavia 9, Zaire 0 (Parkstadion);
2006 WC Group C - Argentina 6, Serbia & Montenegro 0 (Veltins-Arena).

Total of 37 goals (3.36 ave.)

Record in Gelsenkirchen:
Portugal	1-0-0
England		0-0-0
