Yes it's fun to play. Some of us have been playing each version of the game since ootp1. I started with ootp2, and am still enjoying it. The latest version is fun in it's own way but needs a few patches to stableize it more. You might try the demo to get a feel for what it's like. The stats are quite accurate, but it's not really a replay engine so don't expect your oldtimers to put up the same stats they did in real life. They'll be good, but not exact duplicates of their real life counterparts. In fact, they could be hit with a career ending enjury, as well. That's what ootp gamers love about the game... the uncertainty and the alternate outcomes.
One thing is for sure, you'll be able to build your own baseball univerese with as much integrity as you want it to have. No steroids, drugs, enhancements, bad attitudes, outragious salaries; unless you want it. That's what I love about sports sims.
