I apologize if these issues have been covered already, though to the best of my knowledge they haven't.
I imported my OOTP6 league as part of an expansive universe, but was baffled as to why the players from my prior league were all there (though on completely new teams), but only in the background, even after patching. I then realized it was because I had forgotten the "even numbered leagues" rule (tried to make my majors 15-15), and had to do some deletion and recreation to get it working without losing all my manually-entered minor league teams; this of course confused the program, and caused the information to be recognized correctimported wrong. I reorganized my league in OOTP6, did it over, and the import was a huge success.
At this point, I made a quickrestore, and I'm glad I did, as after quicksimming to the draft (and performing it), I realized about 4-5 of my teams had no schedules, and several players picked in the first-year player draft were already playing in the minors...including my 26-year old "out of high school" first overall pick. I also had somehow lost the ability to sim spring training that season, though I'm pretty sure I selected it and my quickstart is at Jan. 1st.
Ignoring my progress, I reverted to the quickstart, and again had no spring training games (not sure if I could in the next season; just want it all right from the start), and I was only able to give those neglected teams a schedule by turning off interleague play and turning on "balanced schedules" before generating a new schedule manually. While I was disappointed at the lack of Interleague and spring training, I figured it would be good enough for my first season. However, the same problem arose with the draft. I decided to sim a few days afterwards, and saw that Houston had called up a AAA pitcher to start for them, but looking at his player card I saw that he'd just been drafted...by another team...who had sent him to AA, and also had him starting that night. Curious as to what would happen, I simmed the day, and found he'd slipped off my radar...come to find out, he was on the DL for the AA team--presumably being in 2 places at once must have caused him a little justifiable bodily harm.
So my questions are as follows:
1) Should a major league setup with 16 teams (5-6-5) in one league and 14 (5-4-5) in another generate a full, interleague schedule for all teams, balanced or unbalanced? Also, any ideas what I should try for the next attempt?
2) Why is my league (with I believe purely fictional minor leaguers, if that helps) making minor leaguers elligible for the rookie draft? Is there any way the league would work itself out so that either the old big club or the new one winds up with a draftee at the season's close?
3) Am I missing something on the Spring Training? Also, can I go with it off one season, then turn it back on in the offseason for the upcoming year?
Thanks a million! (Maybe I'm finally going to get to sim and keep the 2006 season to date after all!)
