Yankees Decline Trade for Encarnacion

(AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals tried to pull a fast one on the young Yankee GM this past week with it's offer of Juan Encarnacion for Eric Duncan and an unnamed minor league player, members of the Yankees front office said yesterday.

The trade offer by St. Louis was most likely in reaction to the Yankees statement that a poor start by Moises Alou may be met with a 'reactionary transaction', and after the Yankees first series Moises Alou had barely sniffed .150, but has since fired up the burners and been one of the team's most consistent on base guys in the young 2007 year.
