I've seent his happen as well in real life. Essentially the minor leagues are to develop talent for the big leagues and that is considered more important to the big league club then if you win the AA World Series. No big league club jumps up and down and issues major press releases when one of their affiliates makes the affiliate league playoffs. The big league GM is interested in one thing, helping his club and if you've done a good job at getting your talent ready for the big leagues then you're going to lose them at the convenience of the big league roster, not yours. That's how real teams do it as well. Hey, at least you won.
