Paraguay game was crap but it didn't have to be anything else. T&T were hard to break down, that's the way they play but when Lennon and to a lesser extent Rooney came on we always looked like scoring. England lost to Northern Ireland a while back. Northern Ireland.... They didn't play too dissimiler to T&T, maybe a bit more attacking in their plan but they stopped us dead really. Now that was bad!
And Ballack is a top player, I won't argue with that but he can't defend and that's what Germany needs.

Gerrard is a terrific passer of the ball but he isn't being allowed to move around the pitch, get open, take the ball then smack a 40 yard crossfield pass right on the money at the edge of the box He has to stay back more then I like and that doesn't use the best of his abilities. Got forward enough for that goal though
Personally I might drop Joe Cole (keep him as a super sub) and play the likes of Michael Carrick as def. midfielder and let Gerrard AND Lampard charge forward to join the attack. Maybe a staggered midfield with Gerrard or Lampard furthest back and Beckham in between. Those two can then see if anything is on up front. The one furthest forward and Rooney could then drift out wide and with the wingbacks bombing forward we keep some width. Owne makes his runs.
But it'll stay 4-4-2 and it won't always be pretty or exciting but this team can still win the World Cup. Wonder what McClaren has in mind for when he takes over from Sven.
