ROBERT LA FOLLETTE - Former U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, Vice President 1917-20

Considered the leader of the Progressive branch of the Republican Party
Champions such progressive ideas as a minimum wage, worker's compensation, and progressive taxation
Led the fight to ratify the Eighteenth Amendment
Has fought against political corruption at all levels
Brilliant orator, but known to have "occasional bouts of nerves".
Favors a reduction in military spending

CALVIN COOLIDGE - U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, 1918-present

Renowned for his honesty
Ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Massachusetts against P.J. Kennedy in 1916
A woman who sat next to Coolidge at a dinner party once bet that she could get him to say at least three words. Coolidge didn't even look at her as he said "You lose."
His political philosophy is one of laissez-faire toward business
Proponent of spending cuts and reduction in taxes across the board
Has argued for federal farm relief, allowing the Federal Government to purchase agricultural surpluses
