Yeah I have had this happen before as well. It was not a spring training game but it was during either a Rookie or Single A game that lasted 23 innings and one of the relief pitchers went 12.2 innings and threw 141 pitches.
On the Spring Training games lasting only 9 innings, I believe they only play 10 or 11 innings and then call it a tie if no one actually wins is......or maybe its just until one of the teams runs out of pitchers.....dont remember which  |
They usually go by the amount of pitchers. Most visiting teams bring a limited number of pitchers, all on pitch counts. So once you get past the 10th or 11th, the visitors are probably out of pitchers.
