I am an historical only player. If a players rookie year was bad, or if they fall below the import modifiers you set when you import a season they may never develop using Lahman. Ankit 5.2 or the Arod/garlon database is they way to go. In the Ankit DB players enter the league at a much more developed level than Lahman. In the Arod/Garlon, they enter the first year that they got significant playing time. Using Murph as an example, with the Lahman he will come in in 75 or 76 (can't remember which) with low ratings. In the Arod, he will enter in 78 (possibly 79) but ready to play in the majors immediately, but still with some room to improve. Ankit takes career averages, so players who were actually good in real life have a better chance to be good in the game. The player will come in at maybe 10-15% below his career averages so he does have room for improvement. One caveat, Lahman has every player who ever played period. The other 2 remove players who only got a cup of tea inthe majors and never amounted to anything.
