NYJ45's Historictional Baseball Universe

NYJ45's HISTORICAL/FICTIONAL UNIVERSE

OVERVIEW
I have decided to start up a historictional (combo historical/fictional universe) and have decided to do a dynasty report as I have been inspired by many of the other great ones on the board and I miss doing them, as I have always been an avid Madden/NCAA dynasty reporter. I also have found, that when I do one of these I tend to get more entrenched in the league/world and find myself enjoying it more. I know it takes alot of work, but I have never minded that, and since my goal is to do this for 120+ yrs, I obviously will not be going as indepth as I did with the 16/12 game seasons of the NFL/NCAA football.

UNIVERSE BACKGROUND
My league starts in the year of 1900 (with all fictional players) and consists of a real-life model MLB (complete with all 30 teams) as well as 1 Rookie-A ball minor league affiliate (International League) for each major league team. The historical players will import only into the MLB amatuer draft, starting with the 1901 crop of players. There is also an international league based in Japan called the [league redacted] League and this league would have talent levels equal to that of today's AAA talent. Finally, we have a winter league in Mexico (Mexico Winter League), whose talent levels would be comparable to today's AA leagues.

The leagues would be allowed to trade players and sign FA's of each league. My goal here is to have 3 seperate leagues with their own history, however I hope to have a nice mix of Historical "real" players as well as fictional players who may/may not turn into legends of their own. Ideally, the MLB, and it's rookie league affiliates, would be home to most of the all-time greats (Ruth, Mantle, Koufax, Bonds, Pedro, etc) as well as the cream of the crop of the fictional players and the rookie minor league teams would have the top prospects who aren't quite ready for the majors. The Nippin International league would be a nice mix of solid fictional players, as well as the historical imported players who aren't quite making the grade in the MLB, but can be stars in Japan and make a decent salary there, more so than what they would make as a backup in the MLB. The Mexican Winter league would be home to mostly fictional players, but mixed in would be imported players at the tail end of their careers who aren't quite ready to hang it up, and the little used players who all baseball fans have some type of emotional attachment to, but in real life would only see the field once or twice a week (example: Mets fans loved Benny Agbayani, the fat Hawaiian OF who really didn't have much talent but would draw plenty of "Benny Benny" chants whenever he played and did well. Benny could be a star in Mexico). Will all of this work as I intend to, I'm not quite sure. On paper, it seems like it should, but even with the patch fixing the "bugs" of the game, no one has really been able to tell me if this is a feasible idea, or if it is going to be in shambles, so I'm going to test it out.

Also, I have decided, since I will be using both fictional and historical players, to go the entire length of the dynasty using today's modern day league setting (5 man rotations, use of bullpens, home run hitters, etc)

Below is a table listing background/rules/information on each league:

As well as the commisioner for every league, I will be controlling 1 team in each league for the entirity of this dynasty. I will not make any ridiculous trades or signings (ie create a super team in Japan by signing away all MLB FA's or trading for the 1st pick in the draft in the MLB everytime a superstar is imported). Also, since I will be starting with fictional players, I have set each league to begin with a draft, and will let the cpu draft for every team (including my own). I have also disabled scout the world for talent, as with 4 leagues and a team within each, I will have enough to look at without having to scout Iceland for the next great fireball pitcher.

ADDED TWIST
I have learned from a fellow Historical simmer (OldTimer) that the players who are already "in the league" as of 1901 do not import into the 1901 draft class. This was however pre-patch, but I do not think that was addressed. So I went back into my OOTP 6.5 game and simmed 1901-1904 and came up with a list of guys who put up excellent stats who will probably not import into the game in 1901. IF they do not, as an added twist, I will manually import them (circa 1901) into the Japan and Mexican leagues to give these leagues some immediate "name power". Below is the list of players who will be assigned to the drafts in Japan and/or Mexico assuming they do not import:

Code:
    JAPAN MEXICO
c Mike Grady, Duke Farrell Ed McFarland
..............................................................
1b Jake Beckley, Candy Lachance John Anderson
    Frank Chance
..............................................................
2b Tom Daly, Nap Lajoie Claude Ritchey
..............................................................
3b Jimmy Collins, John McGraw Harry Wolverton
..............................................................
SS Honus Wagner, Bill Keister George Davis
..............................................................
LF Jesse Burkett, Ed Delahanty Jimmy Sheckard
..............................................................
CF Mike Donlin, Joe Kelley Chick Stahl
..............................................................
RF Elmer Flick, Willie Keeler Danny Green
..............................................................
SP Rube Waddell, Ned Garvin Bill Dinneen
Jesse Tannehill, Cy Young Al Orth
Deacon Phillippe, Kid Nichols Vic Willis

Next up will be a preview of each league in it's infantcy state, followed by an initial preview of each one of "my" teams in each league. Following, I will jump right into the 1900 season. I plan on doing 3 reports a year. A pre-season preview, a mid-season report, and a end of season report...1 for each league and each team I control within that league.

I hope you're interested and will be reading and I do appreciate any comments or questions you might have.
