Yeah, I never felt comfortable when Jeff Nelson came in. Hopefully, Cliff can get himself sorted out and return to something more resembling the previous 2 years...
Here's what I'm thinking the Sox could do to help patch some holes, as it's becoming increasingly obvious obvious that Rob Mackowiak is not a center fielder (if you could just mush him and Brian Anderson together, you'd have...um...Aaron Rowand). Anyhow, a big weakness is the lack of true reserve outfielders - Mackowiak, Ozuna and Gload are not the ticket out there.
1) Acquire a legitimate backup outfielder who can also play first base...something like a replacement-level Lance Berkman, or a John Mabry type.
2) Send Ross Gload someplace where he can actually get some playing time. KW can probably get some bullpen help for him.
