The short version is that the current regime of ownership, coaching, etc. had totally dismantled what was a pretty damn good football team. They traded a HOF QB for garbage and made a bunch of other typical Philadelphia front office moves. The snowballs and boos were actually intended for the Owner and the Coach.
I'm sure that doesn't make it any better but I just find it funny how almost 40 years later the Media can't let this incident go when in Cleveland people were throwing full beer bottles at the Refs. Not to mention people on the field being attacked TWICE at White Sox games, Wally Joyner getting a 5inch blade thrown at him and hitting him, etc.
