Don't mean to offend, this is just my opinion, you need to use a few lighter colors so there will be better contrast with the darker ones.

For instance in the Hawaii logo, try to make the team name and nickname in white or light yellow for contrast. It is hard to read in black.

Notice how knuckler used colors on his logo posted in Post #2.

It is very easy to read because it has good contrast between the dark and light colors.
I'm trying Eugene, believe me. I also have trouble matching my clothes sometimes and have to ask my wife : "Does this shirt go with my Dockers honey?" I think I will run anything I do by you first so the colors are right and match. How about a white stroke around the black font, will that work?
