You should, if the game is anything like past versions, be able to import players and rookies from year to year and then add individual players on top of that. I think one of the modified Lahman databases has Negro Leaguers included, but don't quote me on that.

Actually, you can do any of that, but a lot of it will have to be done manually. You're going to have to be prepared to edit guys that fall off the turnip truck by the dozen every year. The Garlon/Arod database is almost finished, and it includes Negro league players. You can manually edit players, manually duplicate actual trades, make sure Ty Cobb doesn't get hurt, and retire players when they actually did. I did most of that the first year I had the game. But you'll find that other games are better at duplicating real life, and in order to get the most out of this particular game, you have to embrace the unpredictability. It's not an easy mindset the first time around for people that like DMB and Strat, but you will learn to love the game if you stick with it.
