Salvidor Sanchez did have some problems with slick boxers as he Pat Cowdell gave him some real problems in their fight. I saw at least a half dozen of his fights, and while he was an excellent fighter, I'd rate him below Julio Caesar Chavez as the best all-time Mexican fighter.

Danny Little Red Lopez had a made to order, come straight ahead style that accented all of Sanchez's strengths. He wasn't a big puncher, stopping Lopez in the 13th and 14th rounds of their two fights after hitting him in each and every round with pinpoint counterpunches.

The version of Azuman Nelson he faced was only 15 fights into his professional career and he took the fight on only two weeks notice.

Sanchez never had the opportunity to move up to Jr. Lightweight, so it's impossible to say how he would have done there. Maybe great, maybe not.

Chavez's body of work is a proven one and he was successful in several divisions. I'd rate him as the best ever Mexican fighter and believe he would have beaten Sanchez had they both met at Jr. Lightweight.

I'd give Sanchez the edge in a close fight against Barrera and I'd give Morales the edge against Sanchez based upon styles.
