1918 WORLD SERIES
10/2/1918 - GAME 1 SCARLETS 5 - MAROONS 3, 11 innings
Cincy lost starting pitcher Bert Gallia to an injury in the first inning, but the still managed to hold off the Maroons until a St. Louis rally in the bottom of the 9th sent it to extras. In the 11th, the Maroons' defense broke down, allowing 2 unearned runs and handing the win to the Scarlets.
10/3/1918 - GAME 2 SCARLETS 1 - MAROONS 3
Bingo Demoss led off St. Louis' 3rd inning rally with a homer and Harry Heilmann followed soon after with an RBI double, enough to tie the series up at one game apiece before they head back to Cincinnati.
10/5/1918 - GAME 3 MAROONS 1 - SCARLETS 4
Frank Allen pitched a complete game 5 hitter to give Cincy their second win of the Series. Jack Smith and Doc Wiley led the Scarlets with 2 hits and 1 RBI apiece.
10/6/1918 - GAME 4 MAROONS 6 - SCARLETS 5
Down 4-0, the Maroons rallied for 3 runs in the 7th and 3 in the 8th to nip the Scarlets by one run and tie the Series up at 2. Jelly Gardner and Cy Perkins led the way with 3 RBI each.
10/7/1918 - GAME 5 MAROONS 8 - SCARLETS 2
Five runs in the 5th put the Maroons up 6-1, and allowed Pat Hynes to coast the rest of the way. Ray Chapman led the team with 3 hits and Joe Jackson knocked in 3 with his sole hit. St. Louis heads back home with a 3-2 Series lead.
10/9/1918 - GAME 6 SCARLETS 12 - MAROONS 5
The St. Louis defense took the day off, giving up 4 errors and rolling over in submission as the Scarlets pummeled them 12-5. Doc Wiley led Cincy with 4 hits and 3 RBI.
10/10/1918 - GAME 7 SCARLETS 2 - MAROONS 6
The Maroons got their sweet revenge for the 1914 sweep by taking Game 7 and the crown. Bernie Duffy was dominant in his second win and Bingo Demoss had 4 hits to set the table for the other batters.
