Tonight is opening day for the 1924 season of the Norhtern Midwest League. After a delay for the holidays and then the need to replace the league computer equipment, the league is once again ready to get underway.
Two teams may need new owners, but the core owners are ready to battle for the 1924 Heartland Championship.
The returning league champs, Escanaba, return their dominating pitching staff and must be the preseason favorites. But pereninal powers Green Bay, Chicago, Des Moines, Rochester, Rockford, Quad Cities and Rhinelander appear ready to take over the top spot. In addition several teams made some major moves in the off season and several more have some good talent coming up from the minors. This could be the most competitive season yet for the NML.
