If you want accurate stats, the ERA Calculator is a must. After you get it tuned in during your first season, it is on target the rest of the way unless you make a mistake and forget to perform one of the steps. Even though it was never updated to V6 of the game it still works perfectly for me on all categories except triples (and it is only some seasons that they will be off a little bit). It will automatically make settings adjustments to try to make up for any fluctuations from season to season.
