I do think it's important to consider, however, that OOTP 6.5 was a very "mature" product. Basically, for the past however many releases, all Markus had to focus on was tweaking small things here or there. By rewriting the entire program this time around, a lot more time has to be spend on "the basics."
I guess my point is, my assumption has always been that OOTPB 2006 will probably, almost by necessity, be the least polished of the new OOTPB series. For example, for OOTPB 2007, Markus will be able to focus almost exclusively on adding new features and improving the existing ones. That's not the case for this year's edition.
Not trying to scare y'all, it's just my thought on how the development process probably works in cases like this.
