TVs go up to a max of 1366x768 (mine goes to 1280x760)
PC monitors go up to 1920x1200 which is a much higher ceiling.
You can run your PC on a TV and I have done that to my LCD TV
The results were ok but nothing I would want to use for gaming or internet browsing.
PC monitors offer much higher screen resolutions which is why they are much more expensive given their realtive screen sizes.
These monster screens by Dell are going to put pressure on TV makers to offer higher resolutions.
Of course those will not mean much until there is support for HDTV programming higher than 1080p
Hope that answers your question.
While a nice large TV can be used as a PC display a true PC monitor is still superior for games and everyday tasks.
