From watching the games, it really looked like Johnson had difficulty adjusting to defenses putting an infield shift on him. Swisher, however, showed signs of improvement from 1st half to 2nd half in 2005.

Have another look at the numbers, Mike, DJ's numbers dipped in the second half as a result of a terrible month of September. But, if you look at both DJ and Swisher month to month, DJ had a better OPS every month except for September and Swisher was nothing special during that month either, DJ just had a REALLY bad month.
