Thank you for the lovely scarf! It was so nice of you! I received your letter, and I am glad that you and the Cubs are doing so well.
After talking with my mother and father, they felt that it would not be appropriate, even after we were married, for me to come up to Chicago.
Our home is here in El Dorado, and there is so much to be done to get our house set up properly.
I would like to visit, and travel to New York and Philadelphia, but not as a regular pattern. Would you mind if my mother and I would do this? Mother has never been out east, and would dearly love the opportunity.
You have told me of some of the women who travel with the ball players, and I would not wish to be mistaken for one of them. With mother and I travelling together, my parents would feel much better about it.
My mother and father have asked for me to send on their best wishes to you...and father has informed me that he shall support your fathers nomination for State Representative for District 3. I don't know how your father will feel when the Arkansas Democratic Party shows up at your door and says--"You're it!" He doesn't even know he is being considered for the position.
School is fine, except for Tommy Babbitt. He spilled his inkwell all over Chrissy Montgomery, ruined her dress, and made an enormous mess. He claims it was an accident, but I surely know better. Mr. Cloudy took him up to the office, and we could hear the spanking all the way back here!
