Jones was game to give anyone a fight about any time. 20 fights in 1940, 26 in 1941, 15 in 1942, 19 in 1943. Things then finally slowed down, maybe by the war? Through June 1944 he fought only 3 times and then did not show any fights until January 1946. Did he go into service in 1944?

18 times stopped in his career to go with the 23 KO's he recorded. Apparently a free swinging brawler type. He fought a lot fights with guys we've not heard of, but a few we've seen entered into the game. He lost two and drew once with Charley Banks, Lost to Tommy Yarosz, Lloyd Gibson, Phil Muscato, Nate Bolden, Jimmy Edgar, Bob Garner, Bill McDowell three times, Teddy Randolph, Jimmy (Gunboat) Davis, and Ossie Harris. The only wins I seen against rated fighters were against Teddy Randolph and Bill Jackson three times along with a draw against Indian Benny Deathpaine.

In June 1946 he knocked out Bill Jackson to beat him for the third time and that put Jones' record at 41-42-9,23KO. He never won another fight. Jones lost eight in row through the remainder of 1946, 5 by KO. He then did not fight from November 1946 until finally stepping into the ring again in May 1948. He fought and lost the one fight in 1948, lost again in one fight in November 1949, and then lost two fights in early 1950 to end his career. Dating back to the eight lossed in 1946, he lost his last 12 career fights, 9 by KO including being stopped in the last 7.
