Agreed. Their running game was awful last year, and adding James is something they almost
had to do. He gives them a legitimate running threat, and just as importantly, his receiving skills open up a whole lot of possibilities. Screen passes are a great way of taking the edge off the opposition's pass rush, and what James brings to the table will have almost the same effect as adding a good player to the line.
Now, obviously they still need to upgrade the line. Hell, getting James just makes that more important. But their passing game was damned effective last year while Warner was in. They're not far away from being a scary bunch. James could have a similar effect to what Marshall Faulk did in St. Louis in '99, and make that happen.
