Perhaps because - at least until the Sox finally hired Bill James and paid attention to what he was telling them long enough to win a Series of their own - you would be hating both the arrogantly evil bad-mannered unsportsmanlike eternal winners and the plucky, lovable, unlucky and terminally stupid eternal losers at the same time?
