Dwyer vs. Heenan II - the End

Round 11 begins similarly to every other round of the match, with both fighters trading blows seemingly at will. To this point, no knockdown has occured.

Then, with just over one minute gone in the round, Heenan walks into a left hook by Dwyer and falls to the mat. He's up at the count of 4, and finishes the round without further incident.

Round 12 - Heenan comes back with a vengeance, rocking Dwyer several times but not dumping him to the canvas. Heenan wins the round big.

Round 13 - A close round, both fighters giving their best effort, knowing the bout is still in question.

Round 14 - Heenan has fought a valiant bout throughout, but the swelling to his right eye has become more noticeable with each passing round. It is becoming more of an issue as the fight continues. With 2 minutes gone in the round, a wild left blindsides Heenan and sends him to the canvas again for the second time in the contest, this time barely climbing to his feet at the count of 9. From this point forward, it was all Heenan cound do to hang on until the bell ending the round.

Round 15 - Heenan goes all out in a desperate effort to take back a fight he feels is slipping away. Heenan lands a number of bombs throughout the round, but Dwyer remains upright. The fight ends with both fighters battering the other.

In the end, both fighters remain standing, much to the surprise of just about everyone in attendance. The fighters hug each other in exhausted appreciation of the other's efforts. The fight goes to the cards, and the judges find unanimously for the winner, and defending champion, John J. Dwyer!
