November 1890 Action from Forbes Field
PITTSBURGH - Tonight John J. Dwyer defended his title against top HW foe John C. Heenan.
Round 1 was just the beginning of a 15 round contest between two warriors hell-bent on capturing the title. The round was so exciting it is captured in its entirety below:
0:00 Here come the fighters to ring center as the bell sounds to begin the first round.
0:18 Heehan lands a solid uppercut!
0:18 Dwyer was stopped in his tracks by that shot…
0:27 Dwyer is trapped in the corner...
0:37 Heehan slides into a neutral corner...
0:42 Dwyer scores with a winging right! Heehan's head turned halfway round with that punch!
0:42 Dwyer made Heehan blink with that shot!
0:55 Heehan lands a hard hook!
0:55 Dwyer is staggered…
01:05 John J Dwyer scores with a damaging cross.
01:22 Heehan throws a leaping shot that fails to hit the target.
01:39 OH! Dwyer landed the big hook flush!
