October 1890 Results from Exhibition Gardens
VANCOUVER - John C. Heenan continued his dominance in the heavyweight division with a resounding TKO victory over Sailor Charles Brown in 6 rounds of action in tonight's Main Event. Brown was never in the match, spending more time on the canvas than upright, with 6 knockdowns in the contest. Brown was down 3 times in the 6th, with the 3rd ending the match for Heenan.
On the undercard, Billy Keough was ahead on all three judges cards when he was retired in the third because of a bad cut on his left eyebrow. Keough suffered the cut in the first round from a hard right by Bradburn, but managed to dominate the bout until a third trip to the ringside doctor ended his quest. Keough's corner was furious over the stoppage, and demanded a rematch with Bradburn. No word yet from Bradburn's camp whether he is interested in tangling with Keough again anytime soon. Bradburn solidifies his spot at #5 in the UoLBA with tonight's win.
