September 1890 Top 10
Champion – John J. Dwyer
2 – John C. Heenan
3 – Frank Slavin
4 – Hasim Rahman
5 – Tommy Chandler
6 – Bill Bradburn
7 – James Dalton
8 – McHenry Johnson
9 – Peter Jackson
10 – John Morrissey
The top 7 stay the same from August. Despite a dominating performance by Rahman, he stays at #4. Leroy Jones drops from the 8 spot after his defeat at the hands of John Heenan. He is replaced by McHenry Johnson, whose seemingly meaningless thrashing of tomato can Art Schultz impressed the UoLBA brass enough to bump him into the top 10. Duncan McDonald, whose unfortunate injury ended his match prematurely, also drops from the ranks and Peter Jackson, while remaining idle in September, takes his place at #9. Slugging Irishman John Morrissey, also idle in September, regains his spot at #10.
