Burnside, 25, is a hard throwing lefty (93-94) that got a late start in professional baseball. Some arm problems set him back in 2000, also. He pitched for our AA club this past year and ended up being converted from a started to a reliever. He has a chance to make the team in the pen, depending on how good the tigers bullpen is, but he probably needs a full year at AAA. There's a good chance he'll become a solid lefty reliever in the long run.
Roberto Novoa is a big fellow that throws very hard, sitting at around 96 consistantly. He has struggled with his control, but is young in terms of experience, although he turned out to be 2 years older than expected (23 instead of 21). Should begin the year at low-A this coming year. He has a high upside, but needs to learn control pretty quickly. At 23, he's a little old for A ball.
