Butler wins second title

I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.

January 17, 1910

Joe Butler (2/CH) (31-7-2) won a title in his second weight class when he took over the title fight with Jack O'Brien (1/2) (24-5-1) with a 7th round knock-down to cruise onto a UD15.

Butler was way behind going into the 7th with most accounts having him lose 5 out of the first 6 rounds. He dropped O'Brien in the 7th, and changed the whole pace of the fight. O'Brien went down again in the 11th and the 12th and seemed in survival mode from there on out.

Butler who won the MW title in 1905 is 9-0-1 as a lightheavyweight.

I had the fight 144-140 as did ringside expert Jeff Riddolls. The official judges had it 145-137/144-138/142-140.

On the undercard

LW - Frank Erne (22/13) (16-5-2) UD10 Eddie Connolly (38/39) (9-10-2)
HW - Joe Coburn (30/8) (22-11-4) TKo5 Frank Childs (10/20) (21-15-5)
HW - Marvin Hart (72/50) (16-15-4) TKO10 Jem Mace (32/60) (16-12-2)
HW - Paul Samson-Korner (UR) (9-1) Tech Dec7 Billy Cadman (UR) (3-4-4) (both at pre in this club fight)
WW - Jack O'Keefe (UR) (8-2-2) UD8 Whitey Lester (UR) (7-4) (both at pre, Lester stepped up to WW in this club fight)
