Inaugural Month - February, 1890

February 1890, brings the inaugural month of the Universe of Leather Boxing Association (UoLBA). 66 heavyweight fighters from around the globe have successfully gained membership, all eager to climb their way to the top of the UoLBA universe.

The UoLBA has announced that the month of June will be devoted to a 16 man tournament comprised of the fighters deemed by the UoLBA to be the top 16 in the world. This tourney will determine the world's first heavyweight champion.

Early "buzz" from the fight world tabbed a few of the division's elite as the early favorites for the title:

Peter Jackson
- Sporting a perfect 20-0 record, this Virgin Island heavyweight, dubbed by his fans "The Black Prince", has already gained the reputation as one of the most feared men in the division, and is many observers favorite to take the crown.

John C Heenan - Currently ranked #1 by the UoLBA, this American slugger has left a trail of destruction everywhere he's been, with 19 stoppages in his first 20 matches (all wins).

Hasim Rahman - A relative unknown, this fighter from Philly, a perfect 20-0, carries himself as though he belongs in another era. Rahman has 18 KO's to his credit.

John J Dwyer - The powerful Canadian touts a perfect 20-0 with 18 KOs.

Other notable Heavyweights entering the UoLBA with an unblemished record: Frank Slavin, Peter Maher, Jimmy Elliot, Peter Courtney, Dominic McCaffrey, Joe Coburn and Tommy Chandler.
