There have been scouting reports saying thay Clemens was on a downward trend for the last 13-15 years. It was rare that you get a scout saying year after year that "this guy is this great and expect it". Clemens defied the scouting reports his etire career. It's the fans that knew he was as good as he was.

Even Piazza was a fluke in the beginning, then because of his swing it was said he wouldn't be able to handle hitting in the NL long term. Then... should I go on?

Just the real scouts don't quantify ratings like OOTP so it's hard to understand these real life similarities.

I could go on listing more but I'll leave you with Dave Kingman. Go look up what scouts said about him year after year. How did he retire?
