This also tends to happen with the "So-and-so takes his game to the next level!" player development event. I have a player in one of my leagues who struggled along for a number of years, hit his talents but never pitched very well, and then took his game to the next level and juiced his ratings by a point over talent in each category. It's been 3 or 4 seasons and he still hasn't dropped back down (on a 1-10 scale for both overall and talent).
