Its an abstraction to account for teams not always being able to get everyone they want. Sometimes players just don't want to play for a particular team. For example if the Devil Rays offered A-Rod any contract, even the same one he got with Texas, I bet you the response would have been: No. In OOTP terms the response is "I simply do not like your team"
Another example: For whatever reason J.D. Drew simply did not like the Phillies
