I think logo style ens up being some kind of personal preference. Most of the requsts that come ask for a circular logo and as a designer most of the time they are easier to make.

I have a solo league at home of 32 teams and only 3 or 4 actually use the circular logo, but all the teams have city and nickname on them. But at the same time, I also have a solo league with 20 teams that have all circle logo's. I wanted the logo's quick and it was just easier to make a circle logos.

I don't have a real prefence of logo to use, but for me they need to include town and nick name.
