The same thing happened to me in the FLB - it was my left-handed starter who after 3 years of 6+ ERA, was turning it around, he was 8-9 with a 3.86 ERA (good for 4th overall in our batter-friendly league) - had just won pitcher of the month in August.

Then I download the league file - and see he's out for his career with a ruptured disk in his back.

These things happen - it's unfortunate it didn't get noted in the game files. I was upset for a bit over it. But there was no dirty play (great commish). So, I wrote up a nice article about how his wife asked him to move a piano, and moved on.

My team still stinks though...
