Jackson retains title with a draw
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the LBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization.
August 1, 1909
Peter Jackson (30-5-1) retained his LBF title with a very uninspired draw against Tommy Burns (F1/F1) (20-6-2). Burns controlled the early part of the fight and was repeatedly warned for obvious fouls but never penalized.
Jackson showed some life in the middle rounds but it wasn't very impressive. No knockdowns or cuts. Burns' right eye started to swell in the 14th.
I had Burns winning 143-142. George Thorn, ringside expert, had it the same but for Jackson. The official judges agreed with us with the 3rd having it even.
On the undercard
