Truthfully, the best part about the game for me is in game management. There are so many options to the player, almost as many as a real game from a manager's standpoint. There are plenty of times I have watched baseball on TV, second guessed the managers, and then gone and try what I would have done instead. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not.
Another great thing I once did was simulate the entire 100 years or so of World Series baseball (even though 1904 and 1994 did not actually have a series, I simed one anyway for the "what if" case). The results, on default settings using the Lahman (sp?) database, were strikingly close to real baseball. Not exact of course, as players perform "about" what they would have done in real life so some results were different. But all-in-all, it tells me that the stat engine in the game is sound, complete, and accurate.
