The best thing about ootp is that it gives realistic results while creating it's own unique baseball universe. Perfect? No but it gets better with each version of the game.

The most important thing to me is the ability to import your career from version to version. I have played 11 complete seasons one game at a time with ootp over three and a half versions (4-6.5). At about 8 weeks to complete a season that is a huge investment of time and well worth it when I know I will be able to continue it with each new version.

On the ehm board at SI it has been stated that EHM and FM will "never" do this. That with world wide leagues and the structure of the database it is either impossible or would take too much effort. It's been stated that only a small minority would even want to use this feature. I don't believe that is true at all, IMHO it's simply the fact that people have been told it can't be done so they don't waste time thinking about it. If a poll was conducted that said it could be done easily ( I know, it can't be) but would only be done if it's what players wanted you would have a lot more than a small minority voting for it. Sure you have a lot of players that start over with each new version or even with each new patch. But with ootp you have many that continue an old career and also play a new one. And of course you have many online leauges that every year have the annual discussion on when they will move up to the new version.

With ootp we have been told that v6 to ootpbm2006 may not be possible because of massive changes. We have also been told that Markus will do his best though to make the import work. And lastly we have been left with the impression that ootpbm2006 will import to ootp2007 but to my knowledge it has never been said that it will be done. Up til now I had faith that Markus would continue to make the importing work for ootp but after reading this

This isn't an easy thing to do for any game I'm afraid which is why SI products don't support such an idea.

You 'can' do it - however you have to approximate any new statistics/attributes which players might have in the new version which can lead to an unrealistic feel in game (ie. your star player might suddenly be naff etc.).

Add to this (with SI products) the fact that you might be half-way through a season in a league which irl has now got half the clubs in that it used to have (because we update the leagues etc. according to real-life changes) and suddenly you can hopefully see why this would be a very challenging thing for us to implement across 50 odd nations league and cup competitions ...

on the fof forum I'm just not as sure. I can only hope he is only speaking of FM and EHM and that ootp will still be able to continue our dynasties.
