I'm still fairly new to the game, so I can't go as in-depth as some of the other posters here, but I'll give it a shot.
If you're looking for a baseball sim game, OOTP is the best game out there for my money. You can get as involved as you want, including not very much. Want to just have a simple game where you make simple decisions? You can do that. Want to control every team, create new leagues with teams in various markets, watch salary structures and finances, agonize over the 40-man roster, and make every other tough decision owners and GMs have to make? You can do that, too.
OOTP also has one of the most helpful communities you'll find, with the creator and programmer involved in the message boards, honestly caring about the feedback, and working to incorporate the communty's suggestions into the game.
